OFFICE GOAL:

The College Guidance Office, as an integral part of the total educational program of NDMC, aims at the total development of students.  Its programs and services evolve around the students’ needs and perform its major function namely: services pertaining to students, services pertaining to personnel and services pertaining to the evaluation of Guidance Services.

We envisioned every Notre Damean as fully realized well-rounded individual and reached one’s optimum potentials in facing the demands and challenges of everyday life by bringing meaning and positive difference in one’s learning experience.

Mission

The College Guidance Office of the Notre Dame of Midsayap College with its relevant and student-centered guidance program and services empowers each learner to become sell-motivated and value-oriented individuals for better life options, achieving goals and competent in their pursued field.

Objectives

  1. To provide opportunities for students to cope with the present realities in oneself and with the outside world.
  2. To help the students understand oneself better, one’s interests, abilities, needs and problems so that that one may be able to make wise choices and adjustments by providing activities for self-discovery and self-awareness.
  3. To help students to develop skills for learning, adjustment to college life, social relationship and preparation for a life career.
  4. To strengthen linkages with other units of the school and with agencies in the community for possible employment of graduates and for community resources.
  5. To assist in the testing program and needs of the school and community.

IMPLEMENTING GUIDELINES

          Guidance is a form of assistance given to individuals for the purpose of bringing about changes in attitudes and values towards desirable directions. It is an integral part of the educational process.

          Notre Dame of Midsayap College is a private educational institution.  It has a well-organized Guidance Program and Services which cater to everybody regardless of any religious affiliation.  Licensed guidance counselors and psychometrician carry out the guidance program and services with the collaborative efforts of the administrators, teachers, parents, non-teaching personnel and other concerned agencies, private or public.

          All students are welcome to come to the Guidance Office and avail of the guidance program and services.   For the smooth implementation, students can be guided with the following guidelines:

  1. Counselling
    1. Walk-in clients are attended immediately
    2. Referral
      • Referral slips are available at the Guidance Office to be filled out by the referring office or teacher
      • Guidance referral slip is given to the student
      • Referred students are scheduled on their vacant periods except for those who need immediate assistance
  2. Group Counseling
    • Special group of student are given group counselling
    • Students are given appointment slips
    • This is conducted during the vacant period unless there is an urgent or immediate concern.
  3. Information Service
    • The seminars and orientation conducted by the Office are coordinated through the Vice President for Academic Affairs and College Deans.
    • A letter is made through the Guidance Office Head for any request of seminars to students
    • A schedule is made by both parties
  4. Testing Services
    • All new students (freshmen and transferees) are required to take the psychological test as part of the admission requirement.
    • Students shall register in the logbook for the exam schedule
    • Examinees shall take the exam on the scheduled date
    • Results shall be released the day after the exam date or after a week
  5. Individual Inventory
    • As basis for initial interview, counselling, follow-up and for record purposes, all students are required to fill out the individual inventory as part of the enrolment process.
  6. Follow-up Service
    • Follow-up sessions are conducted to students who have undergone counselling, either referral or walk-in, and conducted through exit interview.
  7. Placement Service
    • Given to graduating students through employment coaching, mock job interview and job fair. Students are required to attend as part of clearance requirement.

       Service Hour

Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The Guidance Office is accepting appointment from students, parents and teachers who are not available during the service hour or office hour.
