NDMC Librarians as Mission Partners

NDMC Librarians as Mission Partners

Outreach in libraries is not a newly built concept but it extends to more than 40 years. In 1984, W. J. Martin wrote, “Outreach has had some influence upon library affairs during the past ten to fifteen years.” “Services to the disadvantaged”, “service to special groups”, “extension activities,” “service to the un-served,” “community librarianship,” and “beyond the traditional library” are some phrases associated with this concept.      Adhering to this precept, the NDMC librarians extended their time and expertise to Notre Dame of Genio Edcor, Inc. It is in response to the request made by Sr. Alejandra B. Villarosa, OND, the School Directress, to Fr. Jonathan R. Domingo, OMI asking NDMC to help their school in organizing their library structure especially in cataloguing of books. Likewise, NDMC also donated various educational materials, which intended to enrich the culture of reading of the said institution.

ND Genio Edcor, Inc. is a private, Catholic academic institution run by the Oblates of Notre Dame (OND) located in Alamada, Cotabato. This school is a member of the Notre Dame Educational Association.
