NDMC Students Shine in 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz

Kidapawan City, October 23, 2025 — Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC) proudly sent a team of dedicated students to compete in the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) held at Brookside Hotel, Kidapawan City. The event, part of the 26th National Statistics Month, carried the theme “Accelerating the SDG Pace of Progress: Mobilizing Data for All” and brought together students, educators, and institutions to promote statistical awareness and appreciation across society.

Representing NDMC were Yoshiro Treyes, Justine Kaye D. Carcueva, Princess Kaye G. Moquete, Angelo P. Florague, Mary Christine G. Ontolan, Melchor S. Arcenas, and their coaches. The competition challenged participants through three rigorous rounds, testing their knowledge of statistical concepts, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills. Despite the increasing difficulty, the NDMC team demonstrated determination, resilience, and exceptional teamwork, ultimately securing 5th place among 12 participating institutions.

Beyond the rankings, the event offered students a platform to gain valuable experience, confidence, and camaraderie. Participants emphasized that preparation, consistent practice, and familiarity with Philippine statistical reports were key factors in navigating complex questions. Coaches highlighted that early selection, structured review sessions, and collaborative practice are essential strategies for future competitions.

The NDMC team’s experience reinforced the evolving role of students as young statisticians who can apply data literacy to real-world problems. Action plans for future contests include early school-level eliminations, extended review sessions, collaborative test bank development, and mastery of statistical concepts to improve readiness and performance.
