O holy shepherd, friend of souls in need,

Put in a word for us at Heaven's throne;

Thy love for poor did blossom forth in deed,

Now intercede where Mercy's light is shown.

Look kindly, saint, on lands where sorrows swell—

On Palestine, where cries for peace still rise.

Let justice like a river break its spell,

And hope restore beneath long-darkened skies.

For Pope Francis, shepherd gentle, brave, and wise,

Who walked with poor and spoke for Earth and peace,

Pray now his soul finds rest beyond the skies,

Where love and mercy never fade nor cease.

Dear saint, be near where sorrow’s light is dim,

And lead us all to Christ, as he to Him.
