NDMC Holds Growth Session on Personality Development for Student-Athletes
Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC) conducted a Personality Development Growth Session for its student-athletes on October 17, 2025, at the Primera Function Hall, carrying the theme “Strength of Skills, Strength of Character.” Organized by the College Sports Office and the Office of Student Affairs and Services in collaboration with the Guidance and Testing Center, the session aimed to strengthen discipline, emotional intelligence, respect, and sportsmanship among athletes. The initiative highlighted NDMC’s commitment to shaping well-rounded individuals who excel both in sports and personal character.
The seminar began with an opening prayer and welcome remarks from Mr. William Candido, RGC, followed by a message from Sir Ariel T. Villaflor, Director of Student Affairs and Services, who emphasized the importance of integrity and carrying the NDMC pride in every competition. Program facilitator Mr. Ronilo Dela Peña then oriented participants on the objectives and activities, leading them into an energizer designed to enhance teamwork, communication, and positive interaction.
Participants received key inputs from Ms. Sherlie Naiz, RPm, who discussed the role of personality development in shaping athletes’ mindset, emotional balance, and conduct both on and off the field. Through the sessions “Real Talk – Step Forward” and “Pressure Situations/Scenarios,” student-athletes reflected on real-life challenges, evaluated their behaviors, and practiced responding to stressful game situations with emotional control and integrity.
In the afternoon, Ms. May Ann Orantes, LPT, facilitated a session on developing essential athlete traits such as discipline, mental toughness, teamwork, leadership, and consistency. The activity culminated with the “Code of Honor Contract,” in which athletes wrote personal and collective commitments to uphold NDMC values in their games and daily lives. The program ended with reflections and closing remarks from Mr. Danilo L. Pagaduan Jr., LPT, Sports Coordinator, who reminded athletes that skill may bring victory, but character brings purpose.
